The National Solid Waste Management Authority recently partnered with the Environment Division of the Ministry of Public Works to lend assistance to the Young Leaders Group of the Ottos Comprehensive Secondary School to implement a Beach Adoption and Cleanup Project.

The Young Leaders Group had earlier volunteered to adopt a segment of the highly used Fort James Beach to facilitate the construction and maintenance of a recreational/picnic area for the beach-goers. The Authority contributed a quantity of Garbage Bags, Heavy-duty gloves, equipment and manpower in support of the Young Leaders' visionary implementation of the project.

The Young Leaders Group is expected to make bi-monthly visits to the site to facilitate the upkeep of the area once established.
